This is a wonderful way to allow the students to honor is passing. Band is a very close knit family and though the entire school is grieving the band is going to feel the pain that much more. Let them play!

This is the perfect way for the band to say good bye to one of thier members and friends. It's too bad they have to go through alll this to do that. I'm very disappointed in Lincoln Public Schools.

The band deserves to play a song for their friend.
How dare the administration say that parents don't want to pay tribute to the life of a student who gave so much to the Lincoln East band. I know, as well as any other East student or faculty member, that all members of the east community, student or parent, were devastated by the news of Tony's death, none more so than the band. This isn't LPS's role in paying tribute to Tony's life, this is the band paying tribute to one who touched their lives so deeply. If the same genius who brought us the "purple penguin" policy is in charge of not understanding the difference between an LPS ordered tribute and students writing a beautiful piece to honor the life of one of their colleagues, I pray for the future of LPS.

If the kids feel the need to do this, dont syand in their way. They need to heal, and if performing a song helps them cope with their loss, and express their feelings, then by all means let them.
