Maybe LPS is right but to be honest it proves the stone cold hearts LPS has. The band wants to honor Tony and being a band member music is the way we sleep, breathe, eat, and live you taking away that right to grieve through ONE song would've gave A LOT of us CLOSURE to FINALLY move on. I'm in favor of this due to the fact LPS has taken away that right.

I didn't know Tony, but he deserves to be remembered. Our school should be allowed to express our grief and respect however in whatever way we believe will honor our deceased contemporaries. h

This is a great idea. When Thorpe had told us that we could not play the job he was threatened with not having a job. I am glad that the student body is taking this upon them to change how LPS is.

We appreciate a controlled, orderly environment for our kids, but sometimes the schools tend to take control a little too far, going beyond what is necessary to monitor personal expression and beliefs

Tony Kirkpatrick was a band student. He loved music, he loved feeling, he loved to make others feel. How can you deny us the right to express our feelings about Tony, simply because you're afraid that other schools will want to memoralize their dead students? I say let us memoralize! No father should have to bury a child, no student should have to bury a friend. Let us bring closure to this, in a way that agrees with everything Tony stood for. We heart Tony, and we will fight for him.

Almost embarrassed to be an alum of Lincoln East High School right now. Let the kids play the song. We should be less concerned about gender equality and more concerned about kids like Tony, and prevent this from happening again. Prayers to my fellow Spartans!

I am a student and I participate in the Lincoln East Band and have been involved since 5th grade. I also knew Tony since kindergarten. I was so disappointed that we couldn't play the song and have the student decorated luminaries at our concert.

I graduated last year so i don't even go to East anymore, but this enraged me. Let them grieve, East!
