I think it's ridiculous that band directors get to pick and choose IF they will allow twirlers. Perhaps someone else needs to be in charge of the twirlers, take it away from the band directors, if they can't handle it. Let the girl twirl!

He is always pulling things like this... I was put last chair my senior year in concert band just because I didn't do marching band. I made the highest grades on my playing tests and was still last chair... he chooses favorites to put it simply.

Its decision like this that are limiting our athletes. College twirlers need to get started somewhere. She will twirl no matter what but she wants to give her talents to her school.

These girls should be supported for their years of hard dedicated work. If you have a high school band why stop short and not let these athletes perform. What are you afraid of?? A great half time show?

I completely understand how it feels! My high school band director wouldn't allow me to twirl, either!! So frustrating!! There's no reason to not let twirlers showcase their skills! That's like not letting a certain instrument group perform!! Not fair!

Makes me so furious at your situation and school and more grateful to the band director at our high school who is thrilled to have a twirler for the first time in many years!

As a twirling instructor, I see this way too much, These young women put their whole lives working on developing this skill. The parents have alot invested into the girls developing their talent and she will not stand a chance to twirl at a college without a high school audition video. It is not fair just because a high school level band director has that authority not to be bothered with a twirler that her college chance for a scholarship might be affected. Twirling is a great thing for young girls to be involved with because is creates dedication on their part to be good at this sport. It looks with her competition level that has dedicated time and many hours of practice and has waited her turn. This is a shame and very hard for the sport itself. This is the reason it is hard to get and keep students. I hope she gets to twirl for her school and that every twirler and twirling parent in America signs this petition.

I think we should bring back a line of twirlers on the football field. Please let Kristy and others twirl.

I am outraged at this. The majorettes at my school had disappeared since my coach had graduated from my high school many years ago. I was the one that restarted it! Twirl on!
