My freshman year of high school my band director did not let me twirl. I then moved schools my sophomore year to a program with two majorettes and it was definitely a missing piece in my life. Twirlers definitely add to a show.

I am the mother of a twirler in Ohio. These athletes work VERY HARD on their sport. She should get the opportunity to twirl for her school!

Why do high school band directors get to devalue twirlers when universities across America award scholarships to feature twirlers! They need a high school platform to get to college level.

My daughter has been a twirler for over 20 years .She only stopped lessons when her coach had to close her studio. She first saw our high schools marching band and twirlers when she was 6,and decided she would wear the twirlers costume one day when she was big. She did too! :)This band director needs to get his head out of his a** !!!

My daughter had such a hard time being allowed to showcase her twirling achievements that we actually moved so that she could attend a school that appreciated her rd work and dedication. Don't dare give up!!!!

Band directors, signatures or not, imagine if your school had cut the band program when you were in school and you never had an outlet for your passion. It is so important to allow twirlers on the field in high school to prepare for bigger and better things in college and competition. They hire their own instructors, they don't require much effort from you, and they purchase their own uniforms. Here's one signature in hopes it helps progress baton twirling! Good luck girl!!

If she has an interest in representing her school as a twirler, the director's claim that there is no interest lacks merit unless it's the director that lacks interest. Maybe the director just doesn't have the skill or creativity to nurture and develop such artistic and athletic abilities. Take the issue to the school board.
