I've tried to get a hold of someone to talk to about the new game Cuphead! My best friend is epileptic and the strobe like flashing of the bosses when they are shot at really hurts them and messed with other peoples heads. We need to figure out a way for people to play the game without being injured.

Possible ways you can fix that;

  • Make the bosses get dimmer
  • Slow down the flashing so it's not strobe like

There can be other options suggested but at the moment these are the only two that we can come up with.

Updates

October 8, 2017

I am currently drafting a formal letter to the development team outlining the specific visual triggers that require modification. I have also reached out to accessibility advocates to confirm the technical feasibility of the proposed strobe reduction settings. Further updates will follow once I receive a response to these initial inquiries.

The volume of support has reached a level that allows me to initiate formal outreach to the development team regarding the visual accessibility concerns. I am currently drafting a letter that outlines specific technical adjustments to mitigate the flashing effects in the game. I will provide an update once I receive an acknowledgment from their studio.

Flashing lights trigger severe migraines for me and I cannot watch or play this game as a result. I've played some other games with an option to reduce screen flashing, and it greatly helped. This game looks really cool, but it seems like the whole screen is flashing brightly for long stretches of time.

I'm epileptic myself so luckily a friend told me about the flashing before I gave it go. Hoping at least a different mode or something is added for others who have the same issue.

If the aesthetic is so important, at least offer a photosensitive/epilepsy mode to keep people safe while they play!
