The judge ruled in our favor and David will be running with his team this season. I am honestly stunned by this outcome because it happened only because so many of you refused to stay silent. This victory belongs entirely to those of you who stood by him.

New York State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski’s ruling exempts Gorczynski from a state age restriction. David can run in the Section 6 XC season for Orchard Park. We, the undersigned parents, teachers, coaches, student-athletes and friends of all who wish to compete in XC, strongly encourage the NYS Education Department to reverse their ruling on allowing David to compete with his fellow Orchard Park teammates in XC for the 2013 season. David does not possess a elite ability to influence the outcome of any races he competes in because of his disability but he is a key member of his XC team as his teammates encourage, cheer and admire his competitiveness and be key member of the team. Given the circumstances, an exception should be made to allow David to complete his senior year as a member of the Orchard Park Cross Country team.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this cause. If each of you could find just one more person to show this to, I think we will finally hit that hundred mark.

Ridiculous red tape. Orchard Park should be proud to have him out there.
The rules are meant to be broken when it comes to stuff like this. It is just xc. Let him have his senior year.
This is just plain wrong. Let the kid run with his friends.
why is the state trying to stop a kid from running with his school?? its not like he is hurting anyone by participating. let him run.
