Let Butler Speak At Graduation!

This is unfair and just wrong Mr. Butler has a special place in all of our hearts at McKinney High and he should not be forced to leave without saying goodbye

I'm signing this petition because Mr. Butler has put more spirit into McKinney high's environment than anyone other principal in a while.

I recognize that the Mr. Butler has a family he needs to support and that if he needs to go to another school district to make more money for his family then it's completely understandable. And I'm not saying that the new principal should be shamed I'm sure he will do a great job in continuing the McKinney High School legacy. However, Mr. Butler is the best principal I have ever had in the 13 years I have attended McKinney schools he truly cares for his students and the betterment of education. It makes me upset he is leaving but it's more upsetting knowing the superintendent isn't allowing him to speak at graduation. The superintendent isn't allowing him to speak because he was concerned the senior class would boo him at graduation for leaving. I'm personally offended by that, McKinney High School has created an amazing class of 535 students entering adulthood and I don't know a single person that dislikes Mr. Butler. If Butler speaks at our graduation I can guarantee that the Class of 2016 will show nothing but support and love for him. And as for the new principal next year I am sure he will do a great job as well.

Mr.butler has changed McKinney high school and he deserves to deliever a speech on graduation night!!!!

Whoa! First I've heard. Figured there was more to the story. Butler has been outstanding from a parents perspective. If he is willing and able to be graduation, then he should be welcomed. These seniors know and love him! Don't be petty.

Let MISTER BUTLER SPEAK!!!! He deserves you respect and it's sad that you think that it's OKAY!!!! These kids at McKinney High love him!!!!!!!!!

Let him speak. He knows these kids. He has served them well.

Parent of a senior: This may be a "done deal", but I would prefer getting to hear Mr. Butler speak at graduation. I understand that the incoming principal is usually brought in early, but graduation is a different matter. From my perspective, Mr. Butler is a standout in a sea of average administrators.

Mr. Butler has been a breath of fresh air at MHS. He was present at every (and I mean EVERY) event that took place at that school. When the band made it to the state contest in San Antonio he flew out the morning of the contest and stayed all day. I'm sure if we had a different principle he /she might have done the same but Mr. Butler has shown so much love to each and every one of those students at MHS. To not have Mr. Butler speak at the graduation is heartbreaking to me as this is my first child's graduation and to have some one who loves and knows our kids would make it so special. I would rather have Mr. Butler break down saying goodbye on graduation day then someone who knows nothing about the kids that they are sending out to do amazing things.

Hi Guys, It's Mr. Butler and I appreciate your concern, but we might be overreacting just a little bit. I knew when I accepted the job in Austin, I knew that there was a chance I would not finish the school year. I am not getting pushed out or fired. MISD is wisely and appropriately choosing to start the transition early to Mr. Arbabi (who is also a great friend of mine) so he can be in great position to acclimate to the MHS family. Dr. McDaniel and the MISD leadership are not being underhanded or anything like that towards me. They have been a great for giving me the opportunity to serve MHS and for providing considerable support during this professional transition. I will not be sneaking out the back door quietly. I am blessed that I get the opportunity to say my goodbyes on Monday to students, staff and parents. Although there will be a lot of tears shed next week, it will be tears of thanks for the impact that each of you had on me during my time at MHS. Thank you Lion Nation for allowing me to serve you! Gordon Butler As for graduation, I am not sure I could make it through the ceremony without choking up. That would not be fair to students or their families because graduation is a celebration of the successes of our Seniors.

As a former educator, I think it is so important to remember what should always be in the forefront of our minds: do what's best for kids. Give this graduating class the honor of listening to someone they admire. Don't we want them to really hear that graduating message? So let's have it be someone they will buy in to hearing.

Mr. Butler has taken the time to get to know these kids personally, and they love him. It would not be personal or special if he did not speak at graduation.

I have a senior here who loves me butler. I have an incoming freshman. I don't understand why he has to leave and not say goodbye. How is this any respect for a job well done? Lame. The new guy knows nothing about these kids. He should sit on the sidelines until he's earned his time to speak.

We just moved here and my daughter started her junior year at McKinney High. Mr Butler got to know her personally and made extra effort to support her transition to a new high school her junior year. He is a class act and should be able to speak at graduation

please let this happen

Mr, Butler should be allowed to say goodbye to the students he has been with , especially the seniors he has been with since they were Freshman ! Some of the seniors have had a great influence from Mr. Butler and it would be a very sad day if he is not allowed to participate in their graduation. Tracy Kracheck McKinney TX

Mr. Butler has been so attentive to the individuals lost in the sea of thousands of students. What a loss for this district.
