Dear ASU Student Body,
They say that opportunity is here at Alabama State University, however, it is shameful when doors are opened for some and not all. Previous Miss ASU candidates have successfully been granted campaign eligibility on the basis of attending summer school for extra credits needed. Anastacia Davis has enrolled in summer school for the year 2016 and will be a graduating senior upon completion but was notified two days before campaign season started that they would not allow her to run. It is unfair to be selective in the decision of who is allowed to run one year and not the next. Please use your voice by signing this petition to oppose their decision in not permitting Anastacia Davis to run for Miss ASU.

The administration is still refusing to explain why the rules changed for her specifically. We are currently scouting for a meeting with the dean to demand transparency.

It is unfair & unethical to let someone enter a race in the SGA part but not allow a student to run for a queen position because the race has already started. it should be fair to ALL candidates despite what position they are running for.
I know the month long expenses that come before even announcing to the public that you are running. It is unfair to you to have invested so much, and then to tell you days before that you can't run. They should've let you know as soon as they checked your eligibility a month ago.
I really think she should be able to run . These people didn't care if she had already paid for her campaign things or not.
She is deserving, I don't care how many credits she has!!! I care who can serve the people and still get out of school in a timely manner. She is HIGHLY qualified!
This is unfair! I've also heard of people failing classes during the campaign season, causing their credit hours to drop, and retaking them in the summer. She WILL graduate Spring 2017, and she SHOULD be able to be a candidate!
You deserve it girl!!

It seems as if the university is trying to take control of everything run by students out of fear of losing control. I'm not on Campus right now, but I agree that every individual should have a fair chance to at least campaign, especially considering all of the prep time that goes into this before even announcing candidacy.
