The Tonight Show with Jay Leno 3000 W. Alameda Avenue Burbank, CA 91523 Dear Mr. Leno and NBC Executives, We, the undersigned, are deeply saddened by your comments regarding Chronic Fatigue Syndrome during your show on September 16, 2004. As a celebrity, we ask you to consider that your content can and does influence the general public\'s viewpoints about many issues, including how those of us with \"invisible illnesses\" are perceived by our families, friends, co-workers, peers and the general public. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and its family of related disorders effect an estimated 550,000 people in the United States alone. We struggle daily to live our lives with ever-changing and often painful limitations. Some of us are unable to work, attend school, interact with our families or participate in many activities that were formerly enjoyable. We struggle to do what most people, including yourself, can take for granted - live life to the fullest. While we can appreciate your comments were meant as a joke, we respectfully ask you to carefully consider the harm you\'ve caused and ask for a full, public apology for those of us who know firsthand Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not a laughing matter. Sincerely, The Undersigned

Jay Leno thinks his ignorance is comedy but we know it for what it really is. I have been reading the stories some of you are sharing and the indifference from the networks is absolutely pathetic. We are not going to let them hide behind a pathetic punchline while we suffer.

My daughter has this and she misses out on so much already without being made out to be a tv joke. Shame on you.

I lost my job because people think im just lazy or tired. It is a real medical condition. Apologize now.

This is so incredibly ignorant. I have been bedridden for three years and I deal with this stigma every single day. A real heartless thing to say.

Not funny at all. Jay needs to learn that some things are not punchlines.
