i dont see why hedgehogs are ilegal in california and not in other states. if people think it is ok to get a hedgehog or want one they should be able to get one.

Hedgehogs should be legalized in California. They won't harm the environment. There are so many predators and domestic animals like dogs and cats. Which would make it difficult for them to breed

When I found out that hedgehogs were illegal my heart stop and before I found out they were illegal I was so excited because my mom said on my 16th birthday she would give me a hedgehog And I love hedgehogs they're so cute and they're very gentle creatures

the argument against hoof rot is also totally ridiculous. if any regulations should be set up regarding the ownership of hedgehogs, it should be to people who own or work closely with animals lime goats and sheep. even then, the hedgehogs tested within laboratory settings had to be injected with the disease before they actually caught it, rather than when they were exposed to it naturally.
California, please open your eyes to the fact that they would be a harmless and fulfilling pet. not only that, but illegal breeders are always going to exist, and by legalizing these animals and bringing in vets who can care for them, those people and the ones who buy from them can safely get their hedgehogs the care they need.
as for my personal reasons, hedgehogs are one of my favorite animals, and I would love to care for one.

I think it is unfair to consider hedgehogs illegal because they were never taken into consideration.

I just got my heart broken I was so close to getting a hedgehog then I find out that they are illegal and my whole world turns upside down
