Legalization of Domesticated Hedgehogs in California

I agree. I have done the research - African pygmy hedgehogs, even if introduced to the wild, would never pose a threat to the ecosystem. The climate just wouldn't permit it.

Along with several othe CA laws that are ridiculous, this one is based on a "illegal without even being listed as illegal" basis. End stupidity, allow cute cactus mice to be good pets.

hi my name is Angela Magarro i wanted hedgehogs to be legal as pets in california. i wanted sugar gliders to be legal as pets in california but neather both of them are illegal. california has strict laws on animal ownership. and i know hamsters,chinchillas, rats, guinea pigs, and mice are still legal in california plus certain birds are legal in california, so i hope the legislator will legalize hedgehogs in california soon.

It seems unlikely that an African Pygmy Hedgehog would last more than a week in California given the temperature variations, certainly not past winter given that they can't come out of hibernation. Claiming that people would want to import other kinds of hedgehogs if the APs were legalized is not a good reason to keep AP's illegal.
