we actually did it and the downtown ban is officially gone because the city just approved the new park plans. thank you for sticking with this until it finally happened. keep an eye on the site for when they break ground on the ramps.
We the undersigned, as tax-paying citizens and children alike, demand the right to use skateboards and other similar devices as a viable means of conveyance, both for transportation and leisure in downtown Auburn, Alabama. Skaters of all kinds also deserve a public park that is both safe and legal in which to practice their sport.
I got so terrified that an officer will stop me just because of how many times I have been hassled for riding my longboard that I just don’t ride anymore and it sucks because I’m sure there are kids like me that use it as a sort of stress release or an escape from life to just ride and have a good time, I hope this helps and I hope we get the skate park and respect we deserve

Had to find the article about this petition before I believed that there actually wasn't a skate park in the Auburn-Opelika area. I couldn't believe it. Now I have to search surrounding areas for one but I don't have much hope anymore.

I got a ticket last week just for rolling through downtown on my way home from class. This town needs to wake up and see that skating is a real way to get around.

My son loves skating but has nowhere to go. PLEASE build a park nearby so he isnt skating on the busy roads all the time.

Auburn needs to stop treating skaters like criminals just for trying to get across campus. Its ridiculous.
