The goal of this petition is to try and change the definition of marriage. The current, legal definition is: “The legal status, condition, or relationship that results from a contract by which one man and one woman, who have the capacity to enter into such an agreement, mutually promise to live together in the relationship of Husband and Wife in law for life, or until the legal termination of the relationship.” Simply changing the words "one man and one woman" to “two people” and "Husband and Wife" to “partners” makes the entire difference. The edited definition allows for the inclusion of same-sex marriage. By signing this petition, you are showing your agreement with the need to change the legal definition, thus allowing same-sex marriage.

The scale of this support has secured us a meeting with key legislative aides to discuss the proposed language changes. I am currently finalizing the formal brief to ensure our request for redefined legal terminology is addressed during the upcoming session.

Love is love. Its time we stopped telling people who they can and cant marry. Just let people be happy already.
