If an individual is deviant enough to commit a criminal act, such as robbery or murder, will the law that makes a silencer illegal stop him from using one? Obviously not. Then what justification is there for not allowing law abiding citizens the use of this device?

The more I research the advantages of rifle suppressors, the more I want to see this law changed. Reduced sound pollution, reduced recoil, increased accuracy at long range... I've had that rinding sound in my ears on more than one occasion from rifle and shotgun blasts. There is no evidence that making suppressors illegal reduces gun crimes, but there is irrefutable evidence that gun noise pollution results in hearing damage. If the government wants to have stiffer punishment for gun crimes committed with sound suppressors, then so be it. Sport shooters, hunters, gun club owners and their neighbors are the ones that want this legalized.

Would help with noise polution a ranges and hearing damage. Some sort of registration would be needed to keep it out of criminals hands and keep the anti's happy

The governments need to look at this as a positive thing and not a negative thing.

Drunk driving kills thousands of people a year yet neither cars or alcahol are banned. I think that suppressors should be allowed if treated as a restricted firearm but not prohibited.

I have trouble with my ears now and I would like to continue to shoot but without the noise.

The noise reduction at the rifle range would be very welcome.

A prohibition on a safety device is illogical and should be repealed.

The sound pressure levels produced by firearms well exceed any safe or tolerable levels. Don't be fooled by Hollywood: even with a suppressor on, firearms are still loud and you still should use ear protection, it just reduces the sound levels to a safer level. Time to grow up and stop being afraid of fantasies.

It would really be cool to only have to wear foam ear plugs instead of ear plugs and ear muffs together!
