McHenry, show your support for sustainability and reconsider backyard chickens. A look at the facts will show you there is no real reason chickens should banned. They are wonderful, easy to care for pets that also provide eggs and fertilizer, while reducing insect pests and weeds. Towns that have recently lifted this ban have found they have little to no complaints and overall have viewed this as a positive change.

The city of Chicago allows chickens but, we can't have them. I want to get chickens to produce eggs. Chickens are quiet and if we follow proper guidelines it should not be a problem. We the people should have the right to have this in our backyards.

I feel that this a a wonderful idea for individuals to be able to keep a limited number of chickens for their personal use in home.

I would really love chickens of my own and feel the city of McHenry should change their law! There are many parts of unincorporated that are weaved into the 'city limits' who can have chickens!

I am willing to get very involved with this endeavor. I drive 24 miles a day to go take care of my chickens and ducks on a farm just outside of McHenry. I raise them in order to help a few families get fresh eggs that wouldn't have that experience. Also looking for a new home to move them to. Not revoking them just looking to a new place closer to McHenry.

City of McHenry, open your eyes and ears and realize this country is moving in a new direction, which is to say they are moving away from factory farming which is harmful to humans, animals and the environment and are rejuvenating the way farming used to be. We all benefit from sustainable living/farming and having chickens to supply eggs is a simple and effective way of providing safe, nutritious food to our families. Allow the people that pay taxes in this town to feed their families in a safe and harmless way. Don't stand in the way of progress. Be a shining example of it.
