Having had chickens for many years, I moved here and was so disappointed! Chickens are no different than any other pet bird!! As long as no one gets roosters, what's the problem? They would be cooped not running free and take care of any bugs!! Keep garbage out of landfills too

Having the ability to raise backyard chickens would bring communities together as well as give families fresh and healthy eggs!

Our garden only started to produce healthy plants and therefor veggies (finally!) after we tilled in plenty of fresh chicken manure/bedding the fall before. And fresh eggs taste worlds better than store-bought! The only chicken who is noisy is the rooster, the hens are so quiet, and no rooster is required for eggs - she is fertile and "cycles" like any woman without the presence of a man, but she needs a man for making babies.

Some might object to a noisy rooster, but for chickens for a great way to transform kitchen scraps into eggs and lesson the human burden on the land fills, I am 100% for. Oh, for the novices out there, you don't need a rooster to get eggs. I would be for a limit on quantity, tho. A large amount of birds can smell without proper maintainence.

I don't know why anyone would object to chickens. My neighbor has them in unincorporated McHenry and the community has no problem with them.

I have had to drive 24 miles a day to take care of my chickens that I keep in order to run a community project which shares eggs with the less fortunate in the McHenry area. Give all the ability to keep a few hens in their yard. It would be a great way to help people provide healthy eggs for their family. I would be happy to talk to anyone who has questions about the pros of keeping chickens. There are no cons! Let us become self sustaining in McHenry! They can keep chickens in Chicago, but not McHenry in the heart of farm county USA.

It's legal in Spring Grove as long as you get a permit... Good Luck!
