Cannot believe Wake County School Board is disassembling an academic model that works so well; people are moving into the community specifically for the Leesville Campus experience. Having a nearby school increases the parents involvement in the activities. With the reassignment a nice foundation of parents-teacher will be broke.
On top of that the WCPSS employees forgot that their salaries com from taxes paid for the same persons that they refuse to hear. Shame on the project and shame on the WCPSS employees.

I disagree with the new changes for 2015-16. I would like for my child to stay at LES. My child goes to before and after school program because I have to be at work in the morning. I am also big on communication with his teachers I can go to school and have 1:1 conference because the school is close. If he moves to Cary I would not be able to do that or volunteer. I also have twins that go to daycare down the street from Leesville which is very convenient to us. If he moves to Cary it will be a huge financial burden on my family because I can't be late for work! We move to this area for a reason because of the school system! Please keep our kids at LES.

This reassignment plan does not meet the four pillars that were presented. As I see it, it will not benefit student achievement but will have the opposite effect which is it will detract from it. Proximity cannot be justified based upon the location of the new school (not a very bright decision to build right next to the county line) and operational efficiency cannot be justified by the additional bussing (both the bussing that will be provided and the bussing that will be taken away as per the explanation at the meeting) in addition to having to empty the mobile classrooms but still having to maintain them due to not removing them (a plan that will cost more money from what has been explained as a budget that is in need of more funding). It is a real mess and many poor decisions have been made to justify a faulty purchase, location, and construction that may be needed but not where it is now. I feel that Leesville is paying the price to make up for the previously referenced errors that were made without proper research, planning and decision making
by the Wake County School Board and it's members.

I strongly disagree with the proposed changes to our school district. We chose our home due to the :Leesville school district. It makes zero sense to assign us to a school in Cary?? Please keep us where we live!

This such a stupid concept that it doesn't deserve the effort to address it. Bus children to a school over 10 miles away when they are about 1 mile away from Leesville. Then bus kids from South Raleigh to Leesville. Really? It seems our kids will suffer for the School board building a school in a location where there are no students to fill it. The answer is not busing 5 to 9 year olds to rectify your miscalculations. Look what additional cost will be incurred with all these extra bus routes. They don't drive themselves nor run on air. Take this money and give the teachers a much needed raise.

I am left speechless to this proposal, the highlight of Leesville beyond the fact that you have all 3 schools side by side is the community that comes with it. The ability to go from Elementary School to Middle and end in High School while still working with your fellow peers and Teachers is priceless. I chose this school and also my home to this location for that type of education, community and closeness. Taking that away from our students is unfair to them and for them to leave and "hopefully" come back for their Middle School year is unacceptable. I don't condone busing my daughter 30 minutes plus away to another school when Leesville is within walking distance of our house. What sense does that make??? Yes, our community is growing because everyone wants to be apart of the Cougar Pride and I am happy that they do but our children should not be punished because of that. Don't break up our Community and School your not only hurting these young kids but also the bond that the staff has had with the children and parents.

If a family has already received a transfer to Sycamore Creek ES as their year-round option they should not be forced to switch to a traditional calendar school. Keep our friends at Sycamore Creek!

My sons attended LES, LMS & LHS and have graduated. I oppose moving our neighborhoods away from attending LES for several reasons. Our school campus is unique - having 3 schools connected, and then zoning those who attend LES to continue through all the Leesville schools is wonderful and is the main reason we choose our home when we bought. To take us out is more than moving our district to just another elementary school. It breaks up a campus and connections that last for all 12 years. There are many ways that the students interact between the schools and putting us on the highway to another elementary school breaks more than just the elementary ties. Please consider taking a neighborhood which is closer to the new school and who would possibly not have to take highways to get there.

My concern is safety as well as keeping the Leesville community together. I do not agree with busing elementary school students across or over major highways when they have a school within several miles of their house.

It is time for the school board to show they care about the hundreds of Leesville area families. Pragmatic and caring leaders can look at the plan and the feedback from the community impacted by this plan and realize this plan needs to change.

Please keep in mind that this also affects Sycamore Creek families in addition to Leesville Elementary families. If you have kids at Sycamore Creek affected by this proposed reassignment plan, please also reach out to the SCES PTA to ask for PTA support in opposition to the reassignment plan.

I don't understand why rezoning has to be addressed almost every year. Keep our kids in their neighborhood school district and figure out another way. It makes no sense at all to disrupt families.

I am against this proposal for several reasons. I am very concerned about young children being hauled away from an area where they'll be unable to take place at their school for things like music, sports, ...anything that helps keep their interest in the direction we prefer young people to grow! Parents and friends will be less unable to attend their activities to be supportive of their activities due to the distance. Studying... at the school library... or with an after school program will not be available at this distance! Many parents would like to be active in their schools but cannot go that far, that often to do so!
AND it will definitely hurt our property taxes if the families have to haul their children that distance away from home for school!!
THIS IS SO WRONG.. ON SO MANY LEVELS!!!!
