We need more people like this who really care and do it for free.

I signed the petition. While I believe the cause is very worthy, I would like to see leaving no trace set up as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. My organization the Temile Lakes Association Is going through the process now. The TLA focuses its efforts on clean water on Tenmile Lakes. The problem is Coos County does not have the financial resources and the good folks at Les' Sanitation has always donated services for causes. Thank you for taking on this monumental effort!

The wording there is a bit vague and confusing, Melissa. The C.C. and Les Sanitation aren't "dumping" trash. The Sanitation company has helped pick [some] of it up and hauled tons of bagged-up trash and tires away from the places LNT worked tirelessly (pardon the pun) cleaning, clearing brush and hand carrying used tires out of ditches, ravines, ponds, etc. This grammar glitch i will forgive you for. The litter bug problem of this magnitude we're dealing with in Coos County is unforgivable.

This is clearly a cause worth supporting.

What are we teaching our children? You should be paying someone to clean up this mess, not forcing them to pay to clean it up.

Correction : the county officials are known for sitting on their hands* I highly commend everyone on Leaven No Trace for stepping up where the government has dropped the ball.

I love Coos County and hope to move there in the future! I may be in Lincoln County right now, but you are now known across the internet for sitting on your hands! The public is watching you now, and the only option you have is to do the right thing or be voted out!

It's saving the county money in the long run. If this isn't the common good, what is?

Thank you, Raymond Block and the Leaven No Trace volunteers. I support your efforts and want my tax dollars to help pay for this. The mess belongs to all of us, as does the responsibility for the clean up!

What Leaven No Trace has done is to show the degree to which people have poisoned our streams and forests. If we see volunteerism such as this, we should all pitch in to clean up the mess.

It's high time the county and local officials started reversing the lack of maintenance and care for this part of Oregon, NOT so ironic that a volunteer group would step up and fill the void...FOLLOW THIER LEAD!

It's so ridiculous that it's free labor and the local government should be saying thank you and opening the dump gates without so much as a blink of hesitation.
