I'm a 1980 graduate at Walker High. I feel it's important to leave the name of our school as WALKER High School because students from all over the county attend, not just Jasper residents. The name Walker High welcomes and encompasses all students from the county schools who will be attending as well as students from Jasper City Schools. If we change the name of the high school then what about the elementary & middle school? Their names have nothing in them to indicate they are in Jasper. Please leave things as they are so the legacy of Walker Vikings can live on!

JASPER High School? Really? WHY? My daughter graduated a couple of years ago. She was in the band. Wha..? Don't tell me, you didn't know about the band?! THE WALKER HIGH SCHOOL AWARD WINNING BAND!! That phrase was echoed every Friday night at halftime. What's next, you gonna take Viking Drive too?

The Long Proud History of Walker County High School will be forever soiled by the name of Jasper. Renamed in secret without our input.

I understand change is sometimes good and I am all for pressing forward. But I'm Walker County, it is the small things that mean the most. This high school is one of them... It would be great to retain the WV legacy for the lo all community's sake.
