This seems like a selfish move by the BOE. If it had been left to the people of Jasper alone this school would not have been built. Walker County residents paid city taxes to build this school and its an incredibly selfish move to take their history away from them, as most of them probably went to Walker High.

My father went to Walker. My husband went to Walker, I want my daughter at Walker. Let the community keep its history.

We are Vikings always and forever, granted I couldn't get out of there fast enough I believe that it's wrong to change tradition. Pull your heads out of your full point of contact Jasper BOE, This VOTE should have been made by the people and not just some small group of collective asshats.

It was already changed from a county school..which is ridiculous, since I PAY city taxes and HAVE a Jasper address but we live outside the "city" limits! Leave it as Walker High!!

Extreme disappointment in the BOE's decision to rename the school without asking for input from the citizens of our city. Further proof that the board should be elected, not appointed.
