The feedback regarding the protection of these birds confirms that many people hold our local history in high regard. I am currently reaching out to the relevant authorities to formally present these concerns. This process requires patience as we ensure the message is delivered to the correct departments.

Leave it alone. My Great Grandfather was shot in the head while reading the Bible to my Grandmother who was 5 years old during this era. His name is J. M. Shamblin. There is a monument in the Richmond-Rosenberg, Texas in his honor. He died August 2nd 1888.
Leave our history alone. It is what it is. We can learn from history. But playing like it never happened it’s dangerous.
Leave history alone. You can’t erase it by taking down monuments.
History is the story of our past, both good and bad. Leave it alone!
Leave the monuments alone ~ all of them!

My family has lived in Fort Bend for generations and that statue is part of the landscape. Stop trying to hide the past just because it makes people uncomfortable today.
