This is history that Texans should all be proud of for their part in the war for Southern independence against a tyrannical government run by a despot president bent on total war with out the approval of congress. He and even attacked northern civilians and hundreds of northern newspaper companies that dared defy his ideology.

If you didn't own slaves and lived in the South but had land, family, and farms as your livelihood, wouldn't you defend all this when Sherman came through burning and destroying everything whether you had a slave or not. If that were you situation in Bell County today, what would you do? More than 95% of the Texas State Representative and Senate that are in pictures lining your and my capitol walls of Texas fought in the Civil War for the South! You might as well remove their pictures, but wait! Is one your Ancestor, Uncle, Cousin, Friend of family? Think about what their descendants think--of which I am one!

If people knew the truth of our history, all this cultural genocide would not be happening. Our ancestors did NOT fight for slavery, but independence from an oppressive and tyrannical government. The Yankees wanted to continue the financial rape of the South with their wealth redistribution. Slavery had not one thing to do with the War of Northern Aggression. General Grant had slaves, General Lee did not - so what were they fighting for? Not for the continuation or elimination of slavery. Marxist rewritten history has been pumped into our school kids for over 150 years. It's time to get the truth out there.

History is history..........Perhaps those who mock our country's history need to take some history lessons. My generation has always shown respect for all aspects of our country's history. What kind of people destroy our country's historical statutes, graveyards, etc.........very un-American in my eyes and they either need to love our country for what she is or leave it. I will soon be 75 years old and have struggled all my life to enrich my country, serve my country honorably in the Marines, achieved a Master's degree in Justice Administration and be a member of the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, retired as a State Superintendent with honors, respect my elders, respect my heritage, basically love my country and make it better but never to dishonor her nor my heritage.

Please leave the statues alone they are a part of history. The Confederate soldiers were brave men fighting for there homes, family and because their states asked them to. We can not continue to erase history.

The hysterical and hateful demands to remove all things Confederate show that it is not motivated by "social justice" or "equality". It is motivated by hate and is simply a power struggle, as such, we have no incentive whatsoever to comply. We've already seen that it is not limited to Confederate statues, but any symbol of the founding of this country, in a word, White. Confederate statues are just " low hanging fruit" in the eyes of the revolutionaries who won't stop until the US becomes like South Africa, where the Whites are about to be genocided, or unless they are defeated. All true Americans, regardless of ethnicity, should reject the Marxist hate-mongers and live with mutual respect.
