No people in the history of the world are perfect. They are products of their time, not ours. Far more Texans fought for their State and home than slavery.
Abraham Lincoln himself fought in the Black Hawk War against the Native Americans so whites could settle their lands. Is the Lincoln Memorial next?

To all the ignorant people that don’t or didn’t study history. The past is made up of strong willed dedicated men and women that made our country, state, counties, towns and cities happen. History going forward will either be truth or ignorant excuses for leadership and no prosperity. Leave it alone, your ancestors didn’t make a difference, these did and you can’t dissolve the past and say it didn’t happen. Your ancestors weren’t smart then, are you going to be blessed with their ignorance and not make a difference? Leave it alone!!!

It needs to be left where it stands. It’s been there over a 100 years. It honors the soldiers who fought and died not the cause. Those soldiers are ancestors to many people in this county. I’ve spoken to a number of people of different ethnic and ancestral background and none of them felt imposed upon or offended by the statues. Leave them be.
