Princeton does not deserve the title of the number one university in the country. By not approving this independent concentration, Princeton is erasing the history of Latinx people. Why doesn't the university work on getting better resources for our community? Princeton get with the program.

Arlene put hours of research and thought into this concentration proposal, reached out to so many people to ensure that she will be well supported and can do her independent work, but none of that was truly acknowledged. With this concentration Arlene could start a new path for students at Princeton, especially those who can feel unheard and unimportant because of their identity by telling them that if they are truly passionate, Princeton will provide them with the resources to pursue greater knowledge about things they care about and enrich the academic vigor and diversity on campus. Please sign and share!!!

This is a very important issue, especially this year we have to unite, and make our voices heard.

Extremely thorough research proposal and curriculum design with support from faculty. What is the reason this was denied? Given a sub-standard certificate program whose courses are routinely cancelled, the least the University could do is allow a student to pursue the concentration independently, particularly a student as capable and passionate as you! I would be so interested to read your JP's. Best of luck <3 Princeton, do better.

This certificate program is grossly underfunded and has very few permanent faculty. The University needs to take Latinx studies seriously and increase funding, hire more faculty, and make it a concentration!! It is overdue..

This is ridiculous and embarrassing. Princeton advertises itself as an institution where you can do anything you want once you get in, the proverbial golden ticket, but the reality is that you have to continually "play by the rules" to get anything done, rules that enable the University tip toe around what matters. Instead of embracing the student experience and diversity that our body can contribute, they continue to make sure that students of color and varying identities continue to feel invalidated here and that there existence is nothing but a fixture for the institution.

In all honestly, I want you to pursue everything you're passionate about because you are one of the most capable people I know. You do incredible things and I want you to be even more empowered to do what you think you should do.

If Princetom truly cares about its students, it would prioritize their voices, especially historically underrepresented groups like Latinx students.

Support for Latinx Studies should be widespread. We all want representation in the institution that is meant to be educating us.
