For a number of years now tourism has been on the decline on the Island of Lanzarote. The time has come for the Cabildo de Lanzarote to take serious measures to stem this worsening situation. Residents of the island of all nationalities are seeing there businesses and livelihoods suffer as a result of poor marketing of the island. The decline of tourism will also ultimately result in reduced tax revenues and a shrinking economy. The Cabildo de Lanzarote should be actively marketing Lanzarote throughout Europe and beyond, taking measures to aid reasonably priced air travel to the island, and reduce the grip that the tour operators and all inclusive hotels have on the island. We implore Cabildo de Lanzarote to take action at the earliest possible time to protect it
