Langley Fill Site Freeze
Langley Township Councillor Charlie Fox made a Notice of Motion for a moratorium on "non-farm use" fill site applications in the Township. This motion will be presented at the next council meeting on September 10, 2012. If passed, it would apply to any future "non-farm use" Soil Deposit Applications. Reasons for Moratorium Many fill sites in Langley have caused: - depreciation of neighboring property values - flooding of neighboring lands - loss of health and quality of life due to excessive noise and dust - destruction of watercourses - potential contamination of groundwater Petition I, the undersigned, request that council support this fill-site moratorium at the September 10, 2012 council meeting. In addition, I request that council support an amendment to Fox's motion to include a moratorium on extensions to active deposit permits and a moratorium on deposit permits that are in progress but have not yet been granted.
