Lands End Residents against Development
The cause for this petition is as follows:
A variance has been proposed for a 5 foot set back as opposed to a 10 foot set back as is required by the City of Virginia Beach for two multi-family residential buildings. This is in relation to the proposed construction on a 30 ft wide parcel of land directly behind Lands End Condominiums. The parcel runs along Black Duck Ct, the entrance begins on Marshview Drive and runs to Indian Ave. The proposed construction to build a 12 ft wide, 30 ft tall (3 stories) multi-family housing unit, 6 units in total.
Concerns:
Construction would set precedent for future development
Character of district would be degraded
Overcrowding/parking concerns
Limited access for Fire/Rescue/Police
VA Code requires 20 ft wide roads for fire access- proposed road is 12.5 ft
Buildings/facilities exceeding 30 ft require two roads for emergency access, only 1 road is proposed
Flooding/drainage
Resolution:
Land to be zoned for Park Use only for City of Virginia Beach
Or Land to be deeded to Lands Condominium Association as reparation for the care of the land for the past 30+ years
