With this petition, we, the citizen of India, request the Government of India to apply the provisions of MRTP Act against Real Estate organizations of India.
These organizations have:
1. Unethically used Cartelism to swing up prices of Real Estate between 2006 and 2008 duping thousands of investors and consumers.
2. Held lacs of acres of land in this country without any productive use since last 3 years. They are showing these land under the head of 'LandBank' in their Balance Sheet. They are holding this 'Essential Item' in view of selling them at higher prices after creating un-necessary scarcity by not using the land for productive use.
With this, we request Government of India to confiscate the land held by such Real Estate companies who have not developed the land in past 2 years.
I am still reading through the messages you all have left and the stories about these land issues are much heavier than I realized. This has grown into something far bigger than my own frustrations and I am just doing my best to keep up with the momentum you have created.
February 25, 2009
I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum behind this request. It is truly humbling to see so many people care about this injustice, and it is entirely your commitment that keeps this moving forward.

Finally someone is speaking up about this. My family lost so much money because of these greedy cartels. Confiscate the unused land immediately.

These builders are destroying the middle class. We save our whole lives for a home and they just keep the prices artifically high so nobody can afford anything. Enough is enough.

Total scam. Holding land just to drive up prices while people struggle is just plain evil.
