Allotment waiting lists in Glasgow are well over 10 years now. Would be great to have a few more sites around the city.

Yes! Let's make land available for people without access to private gardens.

So many people want to grow their own fresh food but will never get the opportunity as waiting lists are so long. Use derelict land for good!!

Amount of allotment space available totally inadequate in Glasgow. Will take years for me to get one.

I have just signed up for allotment in my local area - 7 years waiting list. There is so much unused land locally surely this is not right?

Just joined a waiting list for an allotment - at their published list length and turnover of plots I'll be waiting over 200 years for one.

This makes sense on so many levels. I believe everyone should have access to a small area in order to grow their own food. The benefits of which are huge....helping reduce food poverty, allowing people to enjoy fruit and veg that has not been mass produced, flown in from another country, sprayed with chemicals, is tasteless.......etc. When we have people living in food poverty this is a no brainer!

Wouldn't this be better than foodbanks? There is so much unused land and so many people going hungry.

I am very much in favour of utilisation of underused land gaps for the this type of project. I feel this is a lot to do with a sense of ownership - of ones own life and environment; of ones community; of the resources around us; of opening up potential and of making visible the options that already exist. Here's to a greener more productive community world for us all.
