Wasting money in an effort to erase history is tragic. Save Virginia's history! Robert E. Lee was a bold commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, He is noted by Britannica as one of the most successful commanders of the Southern armies during the American Civil War. As his career went on he commanded all the Confederate armies. As a hero of the defeated Confederacy, Lee remained a symbol for people of the American South. Virginia is part of this American South.
