Terrible waste of time and money based on poorly thought through reaction to unwarranted "political correctness".

Do NOT change the name of this school Robert E. Lee had his citizenship reinstated several years ago. You cannot change history by removing this gentleman's name.

Keeping the name the same is the most practical, economic solution. However, if it MUST be changed for some other moral or historical reason, I highly recommend changing it back to the original “Lee High School” which eliminates the unequivocal reference to General Robert E Lee.

Have you considered that the reason there’s been no groundswell for change is because people in the community are just not offended by the name Robert E. Lee? If that’s the case, you would then be moving forward with this based on your own personal feelings. Lee High School is a big part of six decades of Springfield history. With over 75,000 alumni, Lee High School is important to people from Springfield and part of their collective identities. The bottom line is that the main goal is to educate young minds and there is no room in the Fairfax County School Board for petty political fights based on unfair beliefs about Robert E. Lee.

History is not changed by changing the name of R.E. Lee HS. “ POLITICAL CORRECTNESS” will fade but our memories of Lee High will NOT. Do NOT change the name! It is a waste of tax dollars that are better spent on resources for the school.

Do not change the name! The name of the school is irrelevant to the education needs of students. Spend the money on annual raises for teachers and resources for the schools.

Waste of educational funds and tax money. Besides Democrats were behind the Confederacy, Jim Crow, and Segregation. Make the Democrats change their name first.

I attended Lee HS 1964-1967. I met my wife there in 1964, she graduated from Lee in 1968. I was in the stands to watch her receive her diploma. Don't try to erase our memories from Lee, we will celebrate our 50th anniversary this August.
Thank you

I can say categorically that no one I knew from R E Lee ever thought of the school name as anything racially charged. It is a source of Virginia pride; and I ask you to keep it as such.

Class of ‘91. Surely there are better uses for tax payers $$$ than to rename a school that represents HISTORY.
