The 'nutters' are an iconic cultural gem and about the only thing that puts Bacup on the map. The council shoul work creatively to maintain this unique tradition.

It is sad to see local authority officers or members using spurious Health and Safety arguments to interfere with a local tradition thta has gone on for many years without incident. Whatever happened to localism ?

My great-grandfather was a coco-nutter. THeir music is played on albums by Martin Carthy and Brass Monkey. Their contribution to Lancashires heritage on the WORLD stage is immeasurable. Please do not let their traditional procession be stopped due to health and safety fears.

Please allow this tradition to carry on unhidered. It is a tradition that has been going on so long and is great. It also brings a lot of income into the area for local businesses.
