I am surprised they need looking after. its a very well behaved event. What else would you expect from a bunch of blocks in skirts with blackened faces? These ENGLISH tradition need to be looked after and treasured.

This could be the thin end of the wedge; such events and festivals not only keep traditionsalive but bring in much-needed dosh to local economies!

Absolutely ridiculous-the council needs yto look at the amount of income to the town that is generated on Easter Saturday when the place is packed to see the Coconut dancers, I know I've been there

Disgusting, this tradition must stay. This type of event happens all over the country with full support from local councils. Lancs CC needs to listen to the public and see what happens everywhere else. Check out 'Jack in the green' Hastings and learn!

It is the job of Councils and Police to make sure the THE PEOPLE can carry on lawful activities. It is not their job to prevent them.

I have seen the Coconutters dance on several occasions and there has neverbeen any danger to either the dancers, the audience or motorists. This is an unnecessary demand which will serve only to jeopardise a significant cultural and historical event in the area.
