Last spring the Lakeville School Board voted to move the North and South graduations from the Target Center without parent and student input. The board gave the administration the decision where to hold the ceremonies. It was decided that they will be held in each school's gymnasium. This will only allow 2 tickets per family at North and 3 at South with possibly an additional 1 ticket viewing it on video in the auditorium. There is another option! The Roy Wilkins Auditorium at the Saint Paul RiverCentre is available for June 10th! It will allow each family to have 8-10 tickets!! And the good news is the cost is the same or less than the cost of hosting the ceremonies at the schools. The current estimate is $15,000 to have the ceremonies at the schools with rental of sound equipment, staging, chairs, etc. The estimate to use Roy Wilkins is $11,061.20 which includes rental of the facility, labor, lighting, staging, risers, video production of event, tables, advertising, guest services, etc. Please consider supporting the move of the ceremonies to this wonderful alternative which will allow your child to have more people attend this milestone event!
