Hwy 244 is the only route available to bike around White Bear Lake. As a community member. I believe that safe biking lanes should be part of every major highway. That means shoulers wide enough to ride one. Please do what you can to insure safe biking through Dellwood is part of our future.

Please seriously consider to complete the remaining Lake Links trail segment through Dellwood. The safety concerns for both bicyclists and motorists need to be addressed in very narrow stretch through Dellwood.

I have personally run the loop around White Bear Lake from my home in Birchwood Village, and can attest to the dramatic reduction in safety of Hwy 244 from the intersection of Hwy 96 and the City of Mahtomedi. The shoulder is almost non-existent in some areas of this winding, rolling section, and there is no alternative route for runners, cyclists, or pedestrians.

Please complete one of the last remaining segments for a safe trail around White Bear Lake; the 1.5-mile trail segment through Dellwood along State Highway 244. You are taking your life in your hands trying to enjoy a leisure bike ride around the lake. The lake should be able to be enjoyed by everyone but not at the cost of risking your life or serious injury.

There is no safe way to run or bike around the White Bear Lake. We have an opportunity to take advantage of this beautiful natural feature of our home, encouraging healthful activity and making our cities better places to live. And likely saving lives in the process since it is currently very unsafe.

I grew up in Birchwood but now live in St Paul, but still ride around the Lake 2-5 times a summer.

Please make this a safe trail so that no one is injured. I drive along Highway 244 weekly, and it is very narrow for bikers, walkers and runners.

We moved to White Bear Lake more than 30 years ago -- creating a safe bike route around the lake was a priority of area residents even then. Sadly, we seldom risked the "around the lake" loop when biking with our three children, due to the particularly dangerous on-road/no shoulder section on 244 through Dellwood. Now's the time for Washington County, Dellwood, and MnDOT to collaborate and share the road by making this wonderful bike route a safe one for all. Please work together on this fabulous opportunity for our children, families and communities.

There are few more iconic bike trails in the Twin Cities metro area than the one that nearly circumnavigates White Bear Lake. And yet, I seldom ride it because of the dangers riding around the north end of the lake. Please finish this segment and watch a dramatic increase in ridership and safety.

In the 1980's we lived off of Bellaire Av in WBL. I would frequently bike with one young son in my bike seat and the other would ride along on his bike from South Shore to Lake Ave to Ramsey County Beach. They loved it but I took many precautions to keep us safe. I would have loved to have gone the other direction but it was too risky. The improvements Lake Links have completed are wonderful. Let's continue this around the remaining segment of the lake so we can go in any direction safely.

My husband and I live in Hugo. We spend a lot of time riding our bicycles in the White Bear/Hugo area, and we have been very enthusiastic about the Lake Links Trail! Unfortunately, the most dangerous part of the trail is still 244 through Dellwood, which is better than taking Hwy 96 East, but not by much. We would encourage local authorities (the county, Dellwood, and MnDOT) to MAKE THIS HAPPEN! It is sorely needed to make our communities truly bikeable. Thank you.
