Even as an experienced on-road biker, this stretch of road, with narrow shoulders, curving path, rough patches and occasional debris on the road make this a perilous stretch. An off road trail in this section is essential for the safety of all riders.

I know individuals in Dellwood have donated part of their land to make this happen. I can't think of a better way to spend $2.6 million!

Good comment . The hwy 96 section preliminary design is for a separated shared use trail with at least a 3’ buffer from the highway ( per the Ramsey County trail specification ). MNDOT is turning back hwy 96 to Ramsey County and they are actively involved with their partners the city of White Bear Lake and White Bear Township along this stretch .

I support a trail! But I don not support a trail that is apart of the shoulder on hwy 96. Not safe!

I biked around the lake once but was so uncomfortable on the part with no trail that I wouldn’t do it again. I would love to have a safe path around the lake.

This would be amazing; without a safe bicycle/walking trail, the communities of Dellwood and Mahtomedi are cut off from White Bear Lake and its amenities for anyone who doesn't want to drive a car to access them. I think it's particularly important for children to give them opportunities for safe, outdoor excercise and experiences in nature. Please build the link!

I am very supportive of the bike trail which also runs adjacent to my residence along S Shore Blvd in White Bear Lake. The trail is a community asset that will improve access and safety for bikers and pedestrians in the area.

Young or old completing this section will dramatically enhance the pleasure and safety of those walking or biking around WBL.

We regularly bike around the lake and this stretch of road is narrow, has no shoulder and poor visibility because of curves in the road. It’s definitely dangerous by definition and dangerous because drivers don’t make room for bikers, driving dangerously close. Please take action.

I grew up running around the lake, including on the super dangerous stretch of 244. I am in full support of a dedicated separate walking/biking/running trail!

I grew up in Mahtomedi, biking around the lake on this exact stretch of road. It is not safe for cyclists or pedestrians. I had several experiences over the years where I thought I was going to get hit.

Mahtomedi and the city of White Bear Lake plus other communities around White Bear Lake have been good neighbors to Dellwood. It is time that Dellwood acknowledges that all the communities around the lake have grown, along with the changing recreational needs of the area. Highway 244 is a danger for bikers and walkers.

With State funding available to support finishing this section of the bike pedestrian route around White Bear Lake all it will take is collaboration. Let’s get it done!
