I think that the tech. rule is fine for years 7-9 (as their workload is pretty light) but it is ludicrous to try and enforce in onto the older years - same applies to the upper floor of the MMC

Completely unfair that teachers use their phones around the hallways and even in class while we are never allowed to use them in public areas. Your main argument is that it's making us antisocial but reading a book in a public area would do the same.

The no-tech zone could be applied to only certain year groups. You won't see a 13th grader playing games on their computer in the caf. Its much more likely that they are multitasking by eating and studing at the same time. And man do I prefer to socialize than do that.

As a former student and having gone through the IB, let 12&13th have their own area in the library! It was already hard enough getting stuff done with the youngers years downstairs in the library! Can't imagine what it's like now!
It's also for that reason that the no tech zones are counter productive! Because of the library being too loud with the lowers years downstairs, I spend a lot of my time in the cafeteria doing work, as it was less distracting as the lower years were in the library making noise.
Wake up woods! This is the way you ruin the schools name, thanks to this modern technology that you're trying to ban people in different countries know about this faster than you could imagine, word spreads, and you will change the way people look at this school from both the parents and students point of view!
Stop implementing stupid rules that haven't been thought out!

As a former student of La Chat I find this change strange and worrying. The first issue is the opening of the top area of the MMC to lower school. As a 6th form student of a school with a lower school much like La Chat's we are given both a common room and an independent study area with desks and computers to work on this is important as, like with the IB students at La Chat, we need the extra space to concentrate on our A-level exams. Opening up the top area of the MMC to the lower school not only takes away space from the IB students that need it it also increases the amount of distractions in this area.
Next is the issue of no tech allowed. Provided the students are not using their phones in a class (as I'm sure phones are the schools main issue) what is the issue? Unless in the time I left students walk around like zombies and no longer interact with one another save it a 'like' on Facebook or a picture on snapchat, which I highly doubt, this change seems like not only a mistake but unnecessary.
I hope La Chat does not persue these changes despite no longer being a student at La Chat I still have an interest in how the school is run and I feel that this change would be detrimental to the school for both students and staff.

Despite being in year 10, I'm completely up for year 12 and 13 to get back their space in the MMC, and work in peace during their 2 toughest years of high school. I was not excited when I found out that now all Secondary students are allowed access on the upper floor in the MMC, I was more annoyed since for three years, I've been admiring the laminated A4 paper on the side of the stairs saying "Access to Year 12 and 13 only!" and ever since, I've been counting down the years till I would be able to walk up those stairs, and it appears as shorter than I expected. And I am 100% in on giving the upper floor back to year 12 and 13, as I would like to add is that from time to time, I've noticed that the upper floor is louder than the lower floor, and I just don't think that's fair for them.

Allowing all secondary years in the upper level of the MMC is compromising our chances at performing to the best of our abilities on the IB, for what? for younger years to get excited about climbing an extra set of stairs?

IB students require the second floor of the MMC to work. During rush hour, it is flooded with 7-11th graders playing video games. It is impossible to get anything done if you have no desk to write on.

The ninth and tenth graders are just too damn loud on the second floor. Even though the librarians keep insisting that they will still be noisy even if they're forbidden to go upstairs, there is a clear difference between people chatting downstairs and people CHATTING RIGHT NEXT TO YOU IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE
