This is Brilliant! I'll be leaving the Lib Dems after many years and voting Labour in the forthcoming elections.

Sex based protections are still very much needed and should be upheld so we can ensure women and girls are safe.

I sign this petition in support of women from an apolitical position . This is more important than party politics

I support the rights of trans people to be treated with respect and dignity, but women's right to safety and an acknowledgment of the threats to that safety specifically because of being female must not be dismissed in the process.

Let's help LP win through honouring rights for the many, not the few.

I have always been a Labour voter - not this time. Labour you ARE losing women over this issue so I welcome this declaration.

As a longtime Labour supporter, I've been alarmed at the party's apparent failure to consider women's rights and the realities of sex-based oppression in recent years in favour of unscientific neoliberal gender ideology. While I absolutely support the continued freedom of expression and the rights of trans people to physical safety, housing, employment without discrimination, this does not include the right to identify into a group to which you do not materially belong and where your needs are different. Examples such as female women's officers being replaced by self identifying transwomen i(nstead of creating trans roles) who then go on to sideline women's issues. Women being pushed aside on supposedly "AWS". The framing of people who talk about women's rights in law as "hate speakers" for talking about sex-based rights (and being cheered at conference) is completely unacceptable & I will not vote for any party that openly sanctions hate speech against women in this way. I'm glad to see that this issue is finally being taken seriously and applaud the declaration above.

I’m a lifelong Labour supporter but I cannot vote for a party which doesn’t recognise the oppression which affects members of my sex class or my sexual orientation. Sex-based rights are imperative for an equal society and they must be enshrined in law for good. I’ve had enough of the sexist rhetoric coming from Labour members calling women, “TERFs” and “transphobes” just for believing in our own biological reality and speaking about laws which directly impact us.

I Ann very pleased that this matter is being raised and subject to scrutiny. I am supportive of people living the life they want to live but not at the expense of women and children. I am angry that

Many Labour MPs are currently failing women across the UK with dire consequences, by not speaking out and upholding and protecting women's sex based rights as currently written in law. Ignoring the hard won rights of half the population does not bode well in the longer term. Labour need to wake up and start fighting misogyny in all its forms.

I wouldn't be an 'ex' Labour Party member if something like this had been available to support sooner.

Vital that the rights and protections of ♀️s are different and distinct from ♂️s identifying as women.

Women deserve fair recognition for the important roles they play in society and not treated as an insignificant other. We represent 50% of society and yet still fight for equality and respect!

Women are a class in their own right based on their SEX, why should others gains come at our expense and safety and fairness?!

Many traditionally left voting women feel the left has all but abandoned us, let’s hope this pledge provokes some action. Deeds not words.
