LABOUR WOMEN'S DECLARATION

Women exist, deal with it. Women deserve to be safe, & live their lives with dignity & respect. Young girls will grow up to be women, they need protecting.

I'm an EU expat living in London. For the past 8 years, most often than not, I voted Labour at the council, mayoral and European elections (I'm not allowed to vote in national elections). I'm not going to lie: for as long as this first-past-the-post system endures, it's likely I'll keep on voting Labour. Nevertheless, I must say it was disconcerting to hear Keith Starmer say 'trans women are women' on national television. Am I to interpret this false notion a sa preclude to Labour embracing self-ID rules? Trans women competing in female sports' divisions? The end of single-sex spaces? Sex and the oppression we women suffer because of it is very real. If trans women can't access single-sex spaces, they largely (not only, but largely) have men and their rape culture to blame.

The Conservative party are presenting the parliamentary Labour Party with an open goal. But I will not vote Labour as long as they are showing such utter contempt for the rights of women and girls. Girls in school have the right to single sex spaces. Women in refuges, prisons and public changing rooms have the right to single sex spaces. We also have the right to voice our concerns without being attacked, either verbally or physically. Labour are on the wrong side of history on this one. Please sort it out because I’m not sure the country can survive another 4 years of the conservatives.

If there is no sexual binary there can be no reference to any axis of oppression. Trans women are feminized males. Anything else is phallocratic colonisation.

I am a Labour Party member and I care deeply about the rights of women and lesbians in particular and despair at the aggression shown towards women who don't want their rights eroded in favour of trans rights, especially by groups like Stonewall who really ought to know better.

Finally a part of Labour grounded in reality standing up for women and all who understand sex based rights, discrimination and oppression.

I have voted Labour all my life however I cannot support the misogyny I see now. Threat of gender ideology, Self I.d., erosion of language such as women/mother in the NHS and the resultant loss of the clear legal definition of women as a protected sex. I cannot vote for a party that support gender ideology over biological fact. Respect women as voters and respect my sex if you want my x.

I have never heard a discussion on the ramifications of SI for women, the issues around women’s sports and safe spaces and of affirmation approach, puberty blockers etc with children and young people, in a proper political forum. I am compassionate towards trans ppl but women also deserve to be heard. So far we are being ignored, called transphobic or dropped into the ‘far right bigot’ box.

the patriarchy is winning and lib fems are its henchmen, we gotta fight this madness.

We need to defend and reiterate our protected women's rights under the 2010 Equality Act.

I refuse to support Labour whilst the party ignores 51% of the population. How dare you?

The Labour Women's Declaration should be supported for the simple reason that it flows both from the continued existence of real needs and completely justifiable wishes on the part of women in what, for the foreseeable future and regardless of the achievements of particular women, will continue to be a male-dominated world.

Heartbroken that Labour Party is censoring and silencing women trying to protect safe female spaces after all these years and shocked that Labour won’t even come out and be honest about it

The Labour leadership seem to have as little understanding of this issue as they have of another issue which has intentionally been made toxic, namely antisemitism. On the latter issue, they have, as with this issue, conceded the whole matter to a small unrepresentative group which has its own agenda (unconnected with antisemitism) but happy to create a toxic atmosphere to limit freedom of expression and belief. Watch out - they may start expelling you!

When I was 16 years old, paying women LESS than men for the same work was enshrined in law. Over 50 years later, I increasingly despair about the overt, and more dangerously, the subtle, creeping movement of abuse, control and oppression of women being enshrined in society. I fully support the declaration.

I'm struggling about supporting the LP at all because of the policies under LOTO Keir Starmer. Not allowing you to exhibit starkly reinforces these doubts.

Equality is still an issue for many women. Women have borne the brunt of Covid in relation to childcare with many juggling the necessity to work and children. WASPI women are still waiting for the compensation that they are owed so that they can retire. Women’s equality must be at the front of Labour’s policies in relation to pay, pensions, job equality!

I have always voted labour but am distressed by the lack of debate in the party regarding the discussion of sex based rights. Biological women have been silenced for merely wanting to explore issues regarding safety in hospitals, prisons and fairness in sports.

I can no longer vote labour whilst they ignore 51% of the population and do not know what a woman adult human female is
