Khushpreet a 5 year old boy was kidnapped from outside his house in Chandigarh's Burail village on December 21, 2010. Soon after he was abducted the family received a ransom call for Rs 10 lakh. A deal was finally settled for Rs.4 lakh. When the ransom was being paid a day later Police acted with extreme callous attitude and could neither detect or intercept the kidnappers when they collected the ransom in Desu Majra near Kharar. Police could do nothing in the coming days and finally Khushpreet's body was found on 5th December 2011. # If Chandigarh Police did not have a real will to save Khushpreet and apprehend the kidnappers it should have never intervened. # Once they had intervened it was their primary duty to do EVERYTHING they could to save Khushpreet. # They did not do anything to trace the phone calls received by the family. Uptil now they have not been able to find who made the calls and from where. # They did not lay effective traps in the area where ransom was to be picked up. # No Chandigarh Police Gypies were pressed into service for chasing the kidnappers # The kidnappers were right before the eyes of the Chandigarh police when the ransom was handed over by Khushpreet's uncle, yet Chandigarh Police stood by acting utterly dumb. # The kidnappers cam on a motorcycle and yet there were no cameras put up on the roads and crossing, shops or even in the Police vehicles. # After the ransom was paid Chandigarh Police showed its Criminal Inefficiency by not producing any kind of intelligence on whereabouts of Khushpreet. # All that was done was transfer of SHO of the Burail Police post to Police Lines. That is just a Slap On The Hand compared to the Criminal Negligence committed by the whole Police department. # SSP Naunihal Singh should hang his head in shame. Uptil now he has not given a single public statement. In this petition it is demanded that the whole Chandigarh Police Team including the Seniors of Police Department who were involved in the decision making process and who were in the know of the case, should be suspended and tried for CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE LEADING TO DEATH OF A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD. SSP of Chandigarh, Naunihal Singh should apologize publicly.
