Im in my mid 30's and I've just returned to the NW BMX scene after many years away from riding.. I myself am pushing for an initiative in Tacoma to help us build up our riding locations because we are so limited in these types of trails.. Skateboarders were given Skate Parks, and we BMX riders are still predominantly without decent places to ride.. The guys who started and maintained the Kopachuck trail spot are all outstanding individuals with a lkt of talent.. But they didnt get like that without all the hard work put into building their trails over the last 25 years.. Its been heartbreaking for them and the rest of us to face another spot being lost.. Any and all legal avenues are being pursued and taken seriously in the most mature way possible.. All thats needed is a little understanding and compassion, as well as some helpful and proactive support from all of you who are weighing the final decision..

We started this in 1991 before there were neighbors, before the land belonged to the school district. Our kids and our community need this to stay. Not all kids excel at "stick and ball" sports! We need to have stuff like this around to keep kids out of trouble...they need a place to spend outside getting physical exercise and less of the violent video games.

There is no reason why recreational activities such as this should be shut down as long as liability can be worked out. Shutting down the trails is just another cog in contributing to the new culture of inside, out of touch teenagers who have nothing else to do because their city has failed them.

those trails have been there since my parents have lived above kopachuck, from 2003. No problems have ever occurred with them and those that ride on them. They should be preserved as a park.
