I don't live in Houghton but support the continuance of the HCC. They listen to the residents they represent and the City Council and Legislature should honor the contract that was made and the over 71% vote by the residents to keep the HCC

We feel it would be improper for Kirkland City Council to ask State Legislators to interfere with the contract and the responsibilities the city and its Houghton Residents agreed to in Ordinance O-2001, 2003 and 2007.

Fully support. We feel it would be improper for Kirkland City Council to ask State legislators to interfere with the contract and the responsibilities the city and its Houton Residents agreed to in Ordinance O-2001, 2003, and 2007.

KCC is over stepping in asking the State Legislature to strip Houghton of their agreed upon right to their Council. The citizens just showed by their vote that they want it to continue. Please respect their vote.

HCC is essential for our local governance and makes sure that the voices of Houghton residents are heard. Stop attempts to impair the Houghton City Council.

HCC represents our community and is a voice of Houghton residents. I want to have a say in the development of the community where I live and pay taxes. By taking steps to eliminate HCC, Kirkland City Council does not respect our wishes and our opinion. I strongly support HCC in its efforts to keep the contract intact.

Kirkland is bound just like Houghton to the agreement and agreement should be honored by parties

This issue supporting the Houghton Community Council passed in the last local election. Does our Kirkland City Council wish to ignore this election by the people of Houghton?

I have lived in Houghton for 32 years now and my grandparents since 1924. The City of Kirkland should honor their contract Houghton's citizens.

HCC listens to the voice of the community and represents those who live within the Houghton area.
Then they work with KCC. Why is KCC ignoring the recent vote and going against what was already voted on?!

I believe dissolving the Houghton Community Council after we voted to keep it is truly a slap in the face of democracy.

We voted overwhelmingly to continue the HCC. You do not get to change the outcome of an election just because you don't like the results.
The terms of annexation have not changed. You cannot rewrite the terms just because you don't like what was agreed to.
A possible solutions is to elect our city council members by geographical districts, as Seattle does, to provide EVERY neighborhood with a voice. Having all at-large members leads to less accountability.

Please respect the vote of Houghton's constituents. The HCC adds another voice to our city's decision making process, and to sunset it does not solve the equity problem. We should be looking to add more voices to the KCC, not take them away.
