Dear Sir, As a member of the global Scottish community, I strongly urge you to change your current policy at Granite City High School, USA, to permit the wearing of appropriate culturally and nationally-recognized formal wear, such as the traditional kilt with Prince Charlie jacket that is common in Scotland and around the world. I was most upset to read about your recent decision to prevent a student from honoring his Scottish heritage and his family by wearing his formal kilt outfit to his high school prom. I urge you to reconsider this decision, and I ask that you change your policy to allow students to honor their cultural heritage at formal events in the future. Sincerely,
The school administration remains silent despite our emails. Post the link to your Facebook timeline and tag the school district to demand a formal response.

The momentum behind this push to honor Scottish culture at our school events is growing faster than I expected. Take this link and post it to your Facebook feed right now to keep the pressure on the administration. You need to email your school board representative today to let them know that student heritage must be respected.

What a joke. Its formal attire. Does the school board even know what a kilt is?

Disgraceful. My son wore his to his prom no problem. Schools need to stop being so small minded about tradition.

Ridiculous decision. A kilt is formal wear anywhere in the world and should be treated with respect. Let the boy wear his heritage.
