1 in 4,000 newborns and 6 in 100,000 children are diagnosed with childhood stroke which typically results in hemiplegic cerebral palsy. An undetermined number of unborn babies are also diagnosed. Many go undiagnosed, have delay in diagnosis or are misdiagnosed. Help us spread the word...so we may find better treatments and preventions to help families all over the world affected by Childhood Stroke. We kindly request that Google light their home page doodle in purple with the purple childhood stroke awareness ribbon to raise awareness for National Childhood Stroke Awareness Day this coming May 2, 2009. Please add your name to this petition and tell as many people as you can about it. P.S. You can see examples of previous doodles on this page: http://www.google.com/holidayl...

Seeing 500 names on this list feels heavy and wonderful because I know how lonely this journey can be for families like ours. My own child struggles every day with the effects of this, and knowing so many of you are listening gives me real hope for the future.

Seeing one hundred people recognize how many children suffer from strokes feels personal and deeply validating. My son deserves for the world to understand this reality and your support brings us closer to that recognition.

Why not? They do doodles for everything else. This actually matters.

My nephew had a stroke when he was only 3. People have no idea this actually happens to kids. Google needs to show this.
