Camas Ridge is a beautiful property where the kids can play, garden, and explore. To fill it with a huge parking lot is horrible for the environment, completely uneccesary, and a huge waste of money. Please allocate that money in a way that would better serve the children and the 4j community as a whole.

Meanwhile kids riding bikes don't have consistent covered parking at many elementary schools, or have been locked out of it due to new gates. Shameful. (I'm a 4j elementary parent)

This horrible wasteful and backward looking site plan is being railroaded through by Pivot. They have ignored community concerns about excessive parking and responded with only window dressing (a few trees in parking spaces). The design work needs to be stopped until an appropriate site plan can be approved. By the time of the next scheduled public meeting this terrible site plan may be cast in stone.

Please keep parking to a minimum at the new Camas Ridge Community School. Really? 25% of the area dedicated to cars. I don't want my taxes going to more asphalt! Research shows that our building shapes our behavior (https://www.sightline.org/2021/01/28/more-parking-isnt-harmless-it-actually-makes-us-drive-more/). What else could the extra-parking dollars be spent on?
Put me down as willing to let my children walk a little farther rather than a larger parking lot.

Our kids need to learn about the car free cultural advantage, toward breathable air. What better place to begin than at school.
Please minimize the parking in all new school construction . Plus design the building with fossil free alternatives for heating, cooling and cooking: ditch the fracked gas.

Building a new giant parking lot at a school as the climate grown increasingly destabilized seems counter-intuitive at best, criminal at worst. We want to encourage biking, walking and using public transit for the health of the children and the health of the planet they will inherit. I encourage you to send this project back to the drawing board, to get it right for the future by reducing parking space and adding more green space and bike parking.

There is so much street parking in this neighborhood. There is no need to build a lot the length of a city block. Why is the lot right next to the school and kids, anyway? Isn't there already a lot built on the site, not right next to the classrooms? Why can't we incorporate this into the design? Seems there would be less environmental impact if we used the lot that was already in place. It is more than adequate in size, and probably even too big, as it is.

I can't help thinking that a single story school that affords every student quick access to the outdoors is being sacrificed for this extra parking area. Getting outside happens a lot more when it is easy and getting outside is a huge part of the social and emotional health of students. Quick outside access is also more in tune with current school safety procedures - this consideration, while worth noting, is miniscule compared with the value of being able to USE outside as part of a classroom). Even if the two-story plan is here to stay (too bad), the parking area should at least be partly turned into an inviting outdoor learning space instead.

While realistically there needs to be place for those who drive (not everybody can afford to live in the expensive neighborhoods of SE), it is important to encourage alternative transportation as much as possible. 25% of total space given to non-permeable surface for car parking is excessive. Bike cages & lockers, covered spaces for changing out of rain gear - let's be creative! As already pointed out, there is another elementary school 1 mile away that does not have parking on-site. If they can do it, we can do it. Thank you.
