Dear Bluecoats Hall of Fame Committee,

My name is Mike Fanning. I marched with the Bluecoats from 1993-1998 and I have been the Visual Caption Head for the Bluecoats since 2014. Please accept my nomination and signatures of support for Kevin Stahl to be entered into the 2019 Bluecoats Hall of Fame inductees.

Kevin Stahl first joined the Bluecoats in 1996 as a member of the baritone section. During the next four years Kevin Stahl was a soloist and featured performer in multiple years. Kevin Stahl was the baritone/euphonium section leader in 1998 and 1999 and the horn sergeant in 1999. In 1998, Kevin Stahl was awarded as Most Outstanding Brass Performer. In 1999, Kevin Stahl was awarded as Most Outstanding Brass Performer, Most Outstanding Marching Performer and Bluecoat of the Year. As a marching member Kevin Stahl set the standard for the corps.

After aging out with the corps in 1999, Kevin joined the instructional staff of the Bluecoats in 2000, accepted a position at ASC industries and moved to the Canton area. Kevin accepted this position at ASC, in part, so he could be more involved with the Bluecoats. In 2002 and 2003, Kevin served as the Visual Caption Head for the Bluecoats. After teaching with the Glassmen from 2004-2006 Kevin returned to the Bluecoats’ visual staff in 2007 where he has remained ever since. Since 2007, Kevin has been a part of the Bluecoats rise leading to the corps 2016 DCI Word Championship. In 2017 and 2019 when members of the Bluecoats traveled to Hong Kong as part Lunar New Year’s celebrations, Kevin was the Visual designer for the show that they performed.

Kevin Stahl has been with the Bluecoats for 21 years, four as a marching member and seventeen as an instructor. In that time Kevin has made an outstanding contribution to the Bluecoats and assisted in raising our standard of excellence to the highest in the activity. I hope that you will add Kevin Stahl to the Bluecoats’ Hall of Fame in 2019

Yours sincerely,

Mike Fanning

Kevin Stahl pushes his students to be as good as they possibly can. He is inspiring in the way he gives back to the Bluecoats. He is constantly working on how he can better the drum corps, working countless hours on drill on and off the field. I will never forget his dedication as a staff member to me for four years. Thank you Kevin. 6W

It's a 'no-brainer.' I remember there always being a tangible difference in the overall vibe of the entire corps when Kevin shows up. His knowledge/experience, his articulate way of giving information, and his undying love for the Bluecoats organization makes him an incredible instructor more than deserving of this award.

In 2002, Kevin served as both Visual Caption Head and Mello Visual Tech at the same time. His dedication has been unparalleled.

One of the most passionate instructors I have ever had the pleasure of working with during my time in Bluecoats. His teachings and his attention to detail has made an impact in the way I instruct and design for other marching groups. I truly hope that Kevin Stahl is inducted into the Bluecoat Hall of Fame .

The leadership and amazing work Kevin has done for the Bluecoats is almost unmatched over the past 20 years. I have never seen someone go to the level of detail Kevin does to make the corps get better each summer. He has taken technology and used it to improve each kid on the field and the overall visual performance. Kevin is so deserving of this nomination.

I cannot help but wholeheartedly agree with the nomination of Kevin Stahl to the Bluecoats Hall of Fame. His long and dedicated service to the corps is unquestioned and stands on its own as proof positive of his place in the Hall. Brian Hartmann, contrabass, 1994 and 1996
