By signing this petition you agree and support the idea of forming a gay straight alliance (GSA) at Kenmore SHS. This would be a space for students to interact with eachother in a safe non judgmental environment. Kenmore currently has no facilities like such as this. A GSA would help reduce bullying and promote gender diversity and sexuality acceptance towards all members of the school.
I have been hearing from so many students who feel isolated at school and this group is exactly what they need. Now is the time to email the principal directly and tell them that a GSA is a priority for our community.

The momentum behind this petition is undeniable and shows that our school is ready for a GSA. Now we need to turn this energy into action by emailing the principal this afternoon to demand a meeting. Get three friends to send their own emails right now.

This is a great thing! I'm from Canada and in my town every school has something close to a GSA. It's very weird knowing other places like Australia do not already have groups like this in high schools. Glad to help :)

Brilliant idea. Anything that can help to mitigate social isolation is great to see. Probably won't hurt to encourage discussion amongst school peers also, thereby reducing ignorance and hate. Win/win.

GSAs are so, so important in school! Queer youth can be so easily isolated and, when coupled with the much higher rates of mental illness among this demographic, this cn lead to very bad situations. Help these kids to feel more accepted and, therefore, happier!

My daughter is involved in the GSA at her high school and it's been fantastic. The kids of Kenmore SHS deserve a safe place where they can all feel that they belong.

Remember when straight kids needed a club in order to find people to have sex with. Me neither. Young people with traditionally marginalized identities deserve a safe space to express themselves. Denying this club is not in the spirit of education nor is it in the best interests of the student body as a whole.

Kenmore's a gr8 school, but this would make it a much more inclusive place for all students to actively get an education in an environment accommodating to their needs!

when adolescents grow up in an environment where they don't feel included, it can set them up for a lifetime of displacement. i strongly urge the union between straight and gay students and recommend that they be supported by the state department school system. .
