This money would be better spent elsewhere. If another N/S dedicated bike lane is needed through the neighborhood in addition to the existing one on Damen, it should be considered on an existing one way street and supported by a traffic study. As an alternative, CDOT approved the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Ashland and Hubbard in 2018 for approximately the same cost as this project. That intersection also serves as a dedicated E/W bike lane on Hubbard is a frequent traffic problem, has had numerous accidents, several fatal. It would be a worthy alternative to improve traffic, safety, and bike safety in the community. This intersection is on the boundary with the 27th ward and costs could be split with them and/or shared with the industrial corridor TIF.

Wood is such a lovely street to walk on as is, and other streets could be adapted with bike lanes like Wolcott instead.

Making Wood a one-way street will destroy the navigability of the neighborhood by removing the only two-way street in the area.
I am a life-long city biker, for decades before there were any lanes in this city - keep the bike lanes to side streets that are ALREADY one-way and you won't have an issue.
Bike and bus lanes are making traffic MORE congested, claustrophobic and dangerous for everyone involved.

I lived on wood street for 8 years. It is absolutely absurd to think it would be productive to make it one way considering it is one of the only 2 way N/S streets in that area. It’s a street with traffic lights as well, which means it’s safer for both cars and bikes to use in general. Turning it into a one way is truly almost as bad of an idea as the bus lanes on chicago.

I have lived at Wood and Division for ten years and it is important to me the street remain a two way street. It would greatly impede my ability to get to my home if it were changed. There have been no issues with bike crashes on Wood as it is, and we do not need to make any changes.
