The program is amazing. My daughter benefited from this program and now my son might lose the opportunity to continue in this program. Please please keep this!

I was in the gifted program my whole life. It was the best thing that ever happened to my school career. The teachers knew me better, and cared more than any teacher I ever had to this day. This program should never be terminated, and benefits every kid that's in it. It is an educational escape. It challenged me and taught me more than anything else.

My son was in the gifted program at Limestone Career Tech School for six years. Through hard work and dedication from him and the teachers, he earned the Presidential Scholarship at Auburn University and a Foundation Scholarsip from Nucor Steel. It is a wonderful opportunity for the children that attend. Leave the Enrichment/Gifted program at the Tech School.

Some of my own best experiences in school were opportunities in the Gifted Program at the tech school, meeting fellow academically-minded students. Sending it back to the home schools takes away an important facet of the program.

This is nonsense. Gifted should stay. There is no reason to take it away and there's lost of reason for it to stay. Keep gifted at tech!

The gifted program was easily my favorite part of of high school. This program provided me with an opportunity to explore different career paths that I wouldn't have seen otherwise as well as making life long friends in the process. Without the gifted program, I would have never been apart of Team 34 - LCCTC's FIRST robotics team, which was the biggest life changing experience that I have ever had. Moving the gifted program to home schools is going to be the first step to getting rid of it completely, which is not fair to the students of Limestone County.

I graduated from Ardmore High School in 2011, and attended the Gifted Program at LCCTC from 3rd grade through my senior year. I cannot put into words how much this program means to me, and how important it was to be in larger group of students pooled from across Limestone County Schools.
I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2015, with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Computer-Based Honors and Anthropology. I was named a 2013 Ernest F. Hollings Scholar during undergraduate years. As a senior, I was named an Outstanding Senior by the Alumni Association of UA. I now have a prestigious graduate research fellowship, while I study computational genetics at UA in graduate school. I feel that all of my accomplishments would not have happened without the support in my early education that the gifted program gave me.

Our gifted children need this program as it is. If the proposed changes are made, it will be ruined.

My son, Patrick Shields, was a student in the gifted program at the LCCTC. This program needs to STAY at the tech center. These students get to experience so many things as a group. They get to meet students from other schools and gain lifelong friends. Patrick was a member of Team 34 Robotics team. He is a Mentor for Team 34 now. If he did not attend the gifted program he would not have been allowed on the team. TEAM 34 is very important to my family. I have attended competitions in New Orleans, Knoxville and love the experience.
I think it is a TERRIBLE idea to move the gifted program to schools.

I was in gifted in high school and I can honestly say I would not have been successful if I hadn't had these wonderful teachers to uncover and push me to my true potential. They impacted me so greatly that I still keep in contact with them. It is not fair for this great program to be taken away from the students; in a way, this is a form of special education and those who are gifted NEED this outlet. I have a younger cousin in the program now and it would be to his disadvantage to take this opportunity away. He has done better in his regular classes since he enrolled and he has pushed himself harder to learn new things and explore critical thinking. He has made new friends and in the future, he will have great relationships and opportunities that he couldn't obtain without this organization. Please do not terminate the gifted program.

1. Limestone County School Board cannot afford to supply each school with all the resources currently housed at the Tech School. In looking at this plan, who is going to decide what resources will be replaced and which ones will not?
2. This will kill programs currently in place such as Robotics. Without this program, my daughter would not be pursuing Communication at UNA.
3. Teachers currently have time to plan and again, resources are all in one place. This planning is lost as teachers have to travel to each school. 4. Being gifted is different from being an A student. Lumping "advanced students" in with gifted kills the purpose of gifted. 5. The gifted students find others like them from other schools. It brings them together that being at the home school cannot do. Just a few of my thoughts on this matter.

I moved to Madison City Schools a few years ago, but before that attended the gifted program from 3rd-10th grade and I still feel strongly about it! This program is amazing and helps even high schoolers immensely with college readiness in a school system where that doesn't seem to be a priority. Please, for the sake of the kids, keep the gifted program.
