We live in a rural community. Having access to the Tech Center has been a blessing to all three of my children. My oldest is a Senior at UAH. My middle is a senior in high school. My middle was on the Robotics Team at the tech school and says it topped all of her high school experiences. It got her interested in STEM, and she is attending UAH this fall for engineering. My son who is going in 9th, is also involved in this program. He participated in Lego League last year and looks forward to trying out for First. The teachers are excellent! I have NOTHING bad to say about this program. Both my daughters maintained a 4+ GPA while participating. This program shouldn't make your grades suffer. Mine children weren't really interested in sports so this has given them another option which I feel has helped them thrive. It would be such a disappointment to the children to lose this program and access to the tech center.

This program is an asset to all of the county schools and should continue to be treated as such with proper funding.

I think it is crucial to our kids to be able to continue this program locally. I don't feel that this should be taken away from our school system.

The gifted program was so influential to my high school and college career. Keeping the gifted program at the technical center gave me access to more clubs, more students, and more knowledge of majors than I had ever dreamed up. Moving the gifted program back to the local schools would rob the students of multiple benefits they obtain by being able to congregate together at one place.

This is a wonderful program that needs to stay at the tech school. It was always so great seeing students of all ages getting so excited to be apart of the gifted program.

Gifted was a brain oasis in a dry and arid educational environment and not a student luxury to trim. There are many other areas that should be cut with a priority

The enrichment prepared my granddaughter for college with great success. For the future of other students, please leave the program as it is now.

Both of my sons attended the gifted programs and were offered opportunities that offered additional challenges to them to reach their highest potential. I personally didn't feel that 1x weekly and 2x monthly were enough, and they should have been offered even more gifted options. Being involved in the Decatur City Schools, their gifted students attend a magnet school full-time to reach their highest potential. I don't feel that Limestone County Schools offer enough as far as gifted education goes.

I started gifted in 5th grade and remained in the program until I graduated. Because of that I was able to participate in FIRST Robotics. Quit trying to take away opportunities for your students!! Y'all preach excelling in academic programs and it's about time to practice what you preach instead of taking away. There are more opportunities for gifted students at the Career Technical Center.

I loved tech school it taught me so many things about my future. With that being said I believe the gifted program should stay at th technical center for the children. I never got chosen for it but I know it's a great thing and the kids look forward to going.

Please. This is too beneficial a program to get rid of. If it's not houed at the tech school, we all know it will just disappear.

Alabama has bigger issues than this. Leave the gifted program alone.

I attended the Gifted Program from the time I was in third grade until I graduated high school in 2010 with the highest average in my Design Drafting class at LCCTC (which was no doubt in my mind helped by the Gifted Program). The Gifted Program is a fantastic opportunity to not only teach children skills they can use throughout their lives, but also help them make new friends, which was one of the best experiences I had in school. The minds of the students are opened up and taught to think differently and critically, and we were often put in situations to help increase leadership and communication skills. All in all it is an extremely valuable resource for teaching students and preparing them for life much more so than ordinary public school. Getting rid of the program would be a catastrophic mistake.
